BLOG 7 - MY AH-HA MOMENT

BLOG 7 - MY AH-HA MOMENT

During my research about the FDA and its regulations. I did come across an article that stated that the FDA is intending on regulating dietary supplements and labeling of healthy products. It was quite an eye opener to read how this government agency wants to regulate every aspect of the food and medical industry. But is regulating companies and protecting the public so poorly.
It is amazing how the government creates agencies and policies that are in the best interest of the people. Officials are mandating laws and statues that protect the people and are making this country a better place to live. But I question why does all government agencies that were created to assist the common people are maleficent and substandard in the way that these agencies serve the public. From the Department of Children and Family Services to FEMA there is a lack of urgency and professionalism.
There has got to be a more efficient and professional way to serve the public. However realistically to see these changes in governing would have to first change how we govern. America has become more of a capitalist country than a democracy. I am not sure which the lesser evil is.

A democracy is only as good as the people who participate and elect the leaders who lead. The question is who holds the "capital/money?"
