BLOG 9

Blog Unit 9
This has been a very trying term for me. This course has been one that I enjoy because I love to write and express my thoughts and ideas. However, life can sometimes get in the way and if allowed can cause defeat from accomplishing immediate goals. I believe that multi-tasking is a skill that must be mastered; I can never just be satisfied with having the same routine every day. However, multi-tasking must be efficient and no task should suffer from the other. This sometimes can be very complicated to accomplish, that is why there is a saying the focus means “follow one path until successful!” This is not always easy to do!
I have learned this term that time management is a skill that is always being acquired and sharpened. We must be careful not to get relaxed or make assumptions that there will be time to accomplish something that can be resolved today. I love writing and I like the writing handbook that we used for this course. It has everything inside of it to master the skill of writing research papers. I will definitely keep it by my side throughout the remainder of my college career and even when I begin working in the Medical field I will refer back to it. I feel pressured because I want to succeed in this course however; I will have to wait patiently to see my final grade. Writing my paper has been enjoyable and the class as well. I just wish my schedule would have allowed for me to attend my seminars more often which would have allowed me to get to know my fellow classmates and professor much better. Overall, I enjoyed this class, I know that my writing skills and techniques have improved and I understand  APA format better!

Full Circle

Blog Unit 8
I enjoyed creating a blog web site. It is amazing how things come full circle in life! I was told by a friend four years ago to create a blog to express my ideas and thoughts. At this time I was pursuing my goal to be an entertainment journalist and trying to build my writing resume. Well, at that time I really didn’t see that value in a personal blog even knowing how many entertainment journalist have boosted their careers by starting a blog on the web that discusses celebrities and the entertainment industry! So of course when you don’t see value in performing a certain action then you will not follow thru with completing that action. Fast forward four years later I now have a blog on the exact same web site that I began creating one back then! I enjoy writing on my blog and yes I will use it in the future to share ideas, thoughts, goals and knowledge pertaining to self development and my business that is rooted in the health & wellness industry.

BLOG 7 - MY AH-HA MOMENT

BLOG 7 - MY AH-HA MOMENT

During my research about the FDA and its regulations. I did come across an article that stated that the FDA is intending on regulating dietary supplements and labeling of healthy products. It was quite an eye opener to read how this government agency wants to regulate every aspect of the food and medical industry. But is regulating companies and protecting the public so poorly.
It is amazing how the government creates agencies and policies that are in the best interest of the people. Officials are mandating laws and statues that protect the people and are making this country a better place to live. But I question why does all government agencies that were created to assist the common people are maleficent and substandard in the way that these agencies serve the public. From the Department of Children and Family Services to FEMA there is a lack of urgency and professionalism.
There has got to be a more efficient and professional way to serve the public. However realistically to see these changes in governing would have to first change how we govern. America has become more of a capitalist country than a democracy. I am not sure which the lesser evil is.

RESEARCH ON FDA

I own my own home-based business distributing health & wellness products that are all natural. This has caused me to take a serious interest in pharmaceutical drugs and how they are affecting people’s health negatively. Most synthetic drugs are causing people to have become more ill and develop more diseases while taking these medications than before they were prescribed. The Food & Drug Administration is supposed to have the best interest of the public in mind while watching over the scientists that formulate these drugs. However, this is not being done.
I also want to do research to provide people with information about how natural & herbal remedies are more beneficial than synthetic drugs that cause more damage. This is very important to me and writing this research paper has motivated me to continue my research to open the minds of the people who actually believe that the Food & Drug Administration is upright and non-bias. They are truly deceived.

Consistency & Tenacity

Consistency & Tenacity!!!
I have been enrolled at Kaplan University for almost two years now and I love it! The professors are great and really care about the needs and performance of their students. I find online education wonderful and accommodating to my very hectic schedule. When I decided to return to school; I was determined to finish and get my Associate Degree in Medical Office Management.
I am so close to accomplishing this goal that I can taste it! Attending Kaplan has caused me to be committed to achieving my short term goals, which will lead me to accomplishing my long term goal. However, it has not been an easy journey! I have had many challenges come my way while on my path to getting my degree. Even now, I am working full time, running my own home based business and raising three beautiful teenagers (pray for me), all while going to school full time. This is a challenge because I have to keep my motivation & work ethic consistent every week to stay on task. Most times this is not easy to do! But, overall I am getting it done and for that I am confident and excited because each day I am closer to achieving my dreams!
We all must reach down deep and figure out what will truly motivate us to put 110% effort in doing what it takes to accomplish our goals and dreams. With soul searching and decision making and tenacity to see it through, in time our dreams will materialize. However, often times distractions and road bumps appear that cause us to be stagnant on the side of the road of life waiting for roadside assistance to fix the flat. If we could just realize that we have all the tools we need to keep moving within us, we would get out of the vehicle and fix the flat yourself. Because a determined individual with a burning desire fueling that vehicle of success, will not allow nothing or no one to deflate their motivation to succeed!

PLAGARISM

PLAGARISM
I always have been very creative and had the desire to express my thoughts and ideas. I also enjoy hearing other’s thoughts and ideas because we are all so unique and special. I find it disheartening when someone steals another person’s idea and claim it as their own. This reduces the value of the originality and credibility of the person who did not cite the true owner of the idea, quote, music etc.

I write articles, lyrics, poetry and have been working on my first book now for a few years. As a writer we always want to share our works of art but at the same time always have to protect our work through copywriter to prevent another from stealing it and claiming it as their own. Plagiarism is not acceptable and is one of the down sides to creativity. However, any piece of work that originated from an artist’s thoughts and ideas and then is manifested into full expression is worth the risk!

UNIT 3

I truly enjoy being an online student. I like the flexibility to being able to still work full-time and complete my school work during the times that are conducive to my schedule. I enjoy the technology that helps me learn my course materials. The technology gives me the confidence that I am grasping the material and do not feel the need to have to sit in a live classroom to learn. The live online classroom seminars give me the interaction with my professors and students to socialize during learning. However, I feel that the deadlines to complete work assignments have become too stringent because of weekly time constraints and busy schedules can put pressure on a student. Overall, online learning is a great way to complete your college education and to achieve your goals.
